Chennai, Feb 13 (Reporter) Observing that India's federalism is in peril
under the BJP rule at the Centre, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin
on Thursday sharpened his attack further against Governor R N Ravi
and said he lacked moral authority to continue in office.
Referring to an editorial in a newspaper, Mr Stalin said the unconstitutional
excesses of the Governor and their despicable endorsement by the BJP-led
Union government have been rightly accentuated in it today.
He said "the strongly worded editorial encapsulates the Governor's arbitrary
undermining of the Legislative Assembly and reiterates that he lacks the moral
authority to continue in office."
"It is appalling that neither the Governor, the titular head of the State, has learnt
anything from the repeated censuring by leading newspapers across India and
constitutional experts, nor have his BJP masters in Delhi, who continue to shield
and foster his actions", Mr Stalin said.
Disturbingly, instead of disciplining the abhorrent and unconstitutional actions of
Governors in Opposition-ruled states, the Union government only rewards such
excesses to settle political scores, he charged.
"India's federalism is in peril under BJP rule", the Chief Minister said.
It may be recalled that the Raj Bhavan and the ruling DMK was at loggerheads on
a host of issues with the Governor even refusing to deliver the customary New Year
address despite turning up at the Assembly and walking out, citing non-recital of
National Anthem last month...////...
