Industrial policy in Kerala ensures inclusion of all social class: P Rajeeve

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 15 (Reporter) Noting that the government is pursuing a policy of inclusive industrialisation in Kerala, Minister for Industries, Coir and Law P Rajeeve has said all social communities are getting opportunities to become entrepreneurs in the state. Rajeeve was addressing a meeting of representatives of Trade Unions, organised by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) ahead of the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS 2025), scheduled for February 21 and 22 in Kochi. The two-day summit, to be held at Bolgatty International Convention Centre, Kochi, is organised by KSIDC on behalf of the Department of Industries & Commerce. Rajeeve said through the ‘Year of Enterprises’ initiative, around 3.5 lakh new ventures started in Kerala. “Among the new entrepreneurs, 31 percent are women and those from SC/ST communities have representation of four percent each. More than 50 percent of entrepreneurs are from OBC categories. Transgender community has also benefitted from the scheme,” the Minister pointed out. On ‘Mission 1000’ initiative that aims at scaling up the total turnover of 1000 MSMEs in the state into Rs 100,000 crores in a span of four years, Rajeeve said more than 250 ventures have already been selected under the project, and it is expected to go up 500 this year. The Minister invited office bearers of Trade Unions to attend the summit as it showcases the changing global industrial scenario. Meanwhile, the representatives of major Trade Unions of the state extended their support to IKGS 2025 at the meet. LDF Convenor TP Ramakrishnan, MLA, who represents CITU; R Ramu (CITU); Pratheep Neyyattinkara and Antony Albert (INTUC); Tomy Mathew (HMS); G K Ajith (BMS); Rahmathulla, Mahin Aboobakar, Alamcode Sidhiek and Nahaz A (STU); M G Rahul, R Sajilal, Adv. G Lalu, and Ms A Shobha (AITUC), were present at the meeting. In his welcome address, A P M Mohammed Hanish, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, said Kerala’s MSMEs, traditional industries and IT ecosystem will be showcased at IKGS 2025. Hanish added that the focus of sessions, expo and discussions on each sector at the summit will be attracting investments.
