Mumbai, Aug 26 (Reporter) Maharashtra Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar suggested on Monday that schools and hostels in the state should install panic button along with CCTVs (close circuit TV cameras) for women's safety.
He gave this suggestion after Women & Child Welfare Department and the Education Ministry handed him over a report on preventive measures to be taken in the wake of Badlapur school sexual abuse case, where two toddlers were allegedly raped by a sweeper.
"A committee formed under Mumbai region's deputy director and adviser Maharashtra Child Right Protection, Susuben Shah, inquired with all concerned officials. People who have found negligent are named as co-accused in the report, which will now be submitted to the Home Ministery," Kesarkar said.
The suggestions, made in the report after the Badlapur incident, will apply to all schools. Just like CCTVs in schools and hostels, panic buttons can also be installed. It is an advanced technology," the minister added...////...
