Itanagar, June 21 (Reporter) Along with the rest of the world, the 10th International Day of Yoga was celebrated in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday with the people enthusiastically participating in the Yoga sessions across the State. The theme for the IDY celebration was ‘Yoga for Self and Society”.
At the Itanagar Raj Bhavan, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik, along with the school children and officials participated in the Yoga session conducted by Yoga instructors from Vivekananda Kendra, Itanagar.
Greeting the people of the State on the occasion, the Governor said that Yoga, which originated in India, has now spread throughout the world with people from different parts of the globe taking interest in Yoga.
Enumerating various benefits of practicing Yoga, Parnaik said, “In times of tension, depression and challenges, Yoga brings peace of mind and physical fitness. It has remedies for various physical challenges and diseases.”
The Governor appealed to the people to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines and lifestyle. He said that regular practice of Yoga will create positivity in life and working environment, which in turn will ensure better productivity and success in work and professional endeavours.
An ardent practitioner of Yoga, the Governor advised the participants to do Yoga for at least 30 minutes daily. He also exhorted them to encourage their peers and family members to practice the pride of Indian tradition.
At the State Legislative Assembly complex, the Yoga Day event was led by Speaker Tesam Pongte.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein along with MP Tapir Gao, senior leaders, government officials and devotees celebrated the International Yoga Day at Brahmakund bridge near Parshuram Kund in Lohit district.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare in association with Vihangam Yog, Arunachal Pradesh, organized a Yoga session at Hornbill Futsal Ground in Itanagar.
In Tawang, Yoga Day was observed at Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium. Security forces, students, monks and the general public participated in the program, organised by the Tawang district administration in collaboration with the Indian Army.
The Indian Army also organised yoga sessions for students and the public at Jung sub-division in the district.
In East Siang district, a Yoga session was organized at the Sainik School, Niglok...////...
