Chennai, July 27 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Saturday sought to know whether stopping West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress Leader Ms Mamata Banerjee's speech at the Niti Aayog meeting being held in New Delhi was cooperative federalism. Mr Stalin also asked is this the way to treat a Chief Minister and said the BJP government should understand that Opposition parties are integral part of democracy and should not be treated as enemies to be silenced. While Chief Ministers of various states, who were part of the Opposition INDIA alliance boycotted the meeting alleging discrimination in the Union budget, Ms Mamata attended it to register her protest. Ms Mamata Banerjee walked out of the meeting, convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a huff alleging that her speech was abruptly stopped midway by switchinf off her microphone after five minutes, while other Chief Ministers were allowed to speak for 10 to 20 minutes. This was unfair as she was the lone representative from the Opposition side, she told the media in Delhi after walking out of the meeting. She said she had come out boycotting the meeting. Reacting to this, Mr Stalin, in a social media post asked "Is this #Cooperative Federalism?". "Is this the way to treat a Chief Minister ?", he asked. "The Union BJP Government must understand that Opposition parties are an integral part of our democracy and should not be treated as enemies to be silenced", he wrote. "Cooperative Federalism requires dialogue and respect for all voices",Mr Stalin said. It may be noted that several Chief Ministers of Opposition ruled states, including Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Kerala Chief Minister and CPI (M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, and all three Congress Chief Ministers, Karnataka's Siddaramaiah, Himachal Pradesh’s Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Telangana’s Revanth Reddy, boycotted the key meeting of the NITI Aayog...////...
