Mumbai, Dec 14 (Reporter) Consul-General of Israel, Kobbi Shoshani, on Saturday condemned ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and expressed solidarity with the persecuted Hindus there.
Addressing the plenary session at the World Hindu Economic Forum (WHEF) here, he said what is happening in Bangladesh is unacceptable and there is an urgency of addressing the challenges faced by the minority communities there.
He also articulated a shared understanding of the suffering, drawing on the historical experiences of Jews who have lived in India without fear or persecution.
“We understand what it is for the daughters and children to be murdered and butchered by criminals,” he said while referencing the recent tragedies that have impacted both communities.
Shoshani expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India for their support towards both Israel and Bangladeshi Hindus.
“We will never forget what happened to us on October 7, 2023,” he said, highlighting importance of solidarity in combating terrorism, as both India and Israel shared similarities in their challenges pertaining to security and extremism.
