Chennai, Nov 28 (Reporter) Cyclonic Storm Fengal is approaching the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu
and ISRO's EOS-06 and INSAT-3DR satellites are tracking the system.
In an update late on Thursday night, sharing satellite derived videos and images showing the
ocean wind intensity and direction in Bay of Bengal yesterday and today, ISRO said its polar
orbiting satellite EOS-06 and geostationary satellite INSAT-3DR are regularly providing valuable information on the cyclone status.
The satellites are tracking this cyclone since November 23.
It said EOS-06 Scatterometer sensor provides the status of ocean winds and their circulation
well before the formation of the cyclone.
These satellite inputs help in better monitoring and mitigation of the cyclone threat to India.
The early detection by EOS-06 Scatterometer which detected ocean wind patterns, offered
valuable lead time for safety measures.
"As per the current forecasts by IMD, this Cyclonic Storm will accompany with wind speed of
65-75 kmph and gusting to 85 kmph over southwest Bay of Bengal during today to tomorrow morning", it said.
This system is going to cross north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around morning of November 30 as a deep depression with a wind speed
of 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph, ISRO said.
However, the Met office said the Deep Depression will weaken tomorrow and cross the coast
as a Depression...////...
