Kolkata, Mar 9 (Reporter) Ahead of the Parliament poll, BJP Lok Sabha member from Jhargram, Kunar Hembram, has resigned from the party and the Lok Sabha.
Hembram on Saturday said he had resigned from the party as well as from the post of the outgoing Lok Sabha seat for personal reasons.
In a resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, the tribal leader said he quit the post with immediate effect.
Kunar Hembram was elected from Jhargram on the BJP ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll.
"I have resigned from the party and the MP post on personal grounds," Hembram told reporters on Saturday.
"It is hardly a matter for the national party like the BJP if any individual remains in the party or not," Hembram said.
"Yes, I have many things to do as a social worker and am not interested in any political party."
