Pune, Jan 7 (Reporter) The city police has slapped the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against a five-member gang of Junaid Shaikh who allegedly vandalised 27 cars to spread terror in Yerawada area.
Police said that Shaikh (23), a resident of Yerawada, along with his four accomplices, came to Lakshminagar on December 26 with sharp weapons and allegedly pelted stones while abusing passers-by at Yerawada area.
The gang tried to kill the brother of complainant, who had filed a case against Shaikh and his accomplices.
They also vandalised 27 vehicles parked there with intend to create terror, police said.
Sheikh and his gang used violence to increase the gang's dominance in area and instill fear in citizens.
Then, senior police inspector of Yerwada police station Balkrishna Kadam submitted a proposal of action under MCOCA to additional commissioner of police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, who then forwarded it to police commissioner Ritesh Kumaarr who subsequently approved the proposal to book all five under MCOCA, added sources...////...
