The senior doctors and professors of various state owned hospitals, who expressed solidarity with their juniors, also appealed to the doctors, who were on a hunger strike to end for the sake of their lives.
Over 250 senior doctors and professors, who had already signed mass joint resignation letters, however assured their juniors to support the movement to eradicate threat culture and random corrupt practices in all spheresof the medical system in the state.
Two junior medics were also on fast at the north Bengal Medical college and hospital.
The IMA president has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to address the concerns of junior doctors on a hunger strike after the health of Aniket Mahato went critical last night.
BJP spokesman Amit Malviya wished for early recovery of Aniket Mahato's health.
"Aniket Mahato, one of the prominent Junior Doctors on hunger strike, was demanding safer working conditions in West Bengal Government run hospitals, in the aftermath of the rape and murder of a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital, in Kolkata. He has been hospitalised, due to worsening health. Mamata Banerjee had agreed to demands of the Junior Doctors when she met them. But, as expected, she remained remorseless and did nothing, thereafter," Malviya, who is also party in-charge, said.
The Junior Doctors’ hunger strike at Dornia Crossing has now entered the seventh day.
"Everyone in West Bengal is deeply concerned about Aniket Mahato and other protesting Junior Doctors’ health. They have been at theforefront of the movement, seeking justice for the RG Kar rape and murder victim," Malviya said on his X handle.
"I wish Aniket Mahato a speedy recovery and sincerely hope that Mamata Banerjee handle the situation with compassion, allowing the Junior Doctors to end their fast and resume work.
