Mysuru, Nov 5 (Reporter) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to appear before the Lokayukta police on Wednesday in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities in the allocation of 14 compensatory sites by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife, Parvati. According to a press release from Siddaramaiah's office, he is expected to arrive in Mysuru by road at approximately 9:30 am. and will be questioned at the office of the Superintendent of Lokayukta Police on Dewan’s Road. The summons for his appearance was issued by Superintendent TJ Udesh. Following the questioning, the Chief Minister is slated to leave Mysuru by noon to participate in election campaigning in Channapatna. City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar is overseeing security arrangements at the Lokayukta office, having convened a meeting with senior police officials to discuss measures to ensure safety around the venue. A significant number of barricades have been set up in anticipation of the event. Siddaramaiah has been named as accused number one in an FIR filed by Lokayukta police, stemming from a complaint by activist Snehamayi Krishna. The complaint alleges irregularities in the allotment of compensatory sites to Parvati under a controversial 50:50 ratio scheme. In a related investigation, the Lokayukta police have already questioned Parvati, who is listed as accused number two, along with her brother Mallikarjunaswamy. The latter is said to have gifted her 3 acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesare, which was subsequently utilised by MUDA for development purposes. Siddaramaiah asserts that the 14 sites, which total 38,284 square feet, were legitimately allocated in exchange for the land that MUDA acquired. However, the complaint not only questions the irregularities in the allocation of these sites but also challenges the legality of Parvati's ownership of the land. Snehamayi Krishna has approached the High Court, requesting a CBI investigation into the alleged MUDA scam, expressing doubts about the integrity of the Lokayukta's probe, which is conducted under the state government’s jurisdiction. He has welcomed the summons issued to the Chief Minister, urging that he be treated like any other accused and that the Lokayukta police secure all necessary information during their questioning. As the political landscape intensifies ahead of upcoming by-elections, all eyes are on Siddaramaiah as he navigates this significant legal and political challenge...////...
