Bengaluru, July 1 (Reporter) Karnataka's ruling Congress is set for introspection and action as Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday announced the formation of a fact-finding committee to dissect its performance in the recently-concluded Parliamentary elections. Three oversight teams have been mobilised to oversee preparations for the upcoming assembly by-polls, triggered by the resignations of three MLAs who secured Lok Sabha seats. Addressing reporters after a crucial meeting at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office here, Shivakumar expressed mixed sentiments regarding the electoral outcomes. Despite the Congress's commendable improvement from one seat in 2019 to nine this time, Shivakumar acknowledged the disappointment of falling short of their ambitious 15-seat target. "Our performance, though respectable, did not meet our expectations, particularly outside the Kalyana Karnataka region," he lamented. The fact-finding committee will delve into the nuances of electoral strategies, meticulously scrutinising performance at the constituency level to prepare a comprehensive report. "We surpassed media predictions in actual seat wins, but we aimed higher," Shivakumar admitted, suggesting the party could have secured an additional four to five seats with better strategy. Looking forward, Shivakumar outlined a robust plan for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and himself to conduct four review meetings, culminating in a comprehensive report to be presented to the visiting team from the All India Congress Committee (AICC). This initiative aims to assess and recalibrate the party's approach ahead of future electoral challenges. Meanwhile, preparations for the impending assembly bypolls are already underway, with three oversight teams tasked with ensuring meticulous planning. Initial reports for the Shiggaon constituency have been submitted, and updates for Channapatna by Minister Chaluvarayaswamy are imminent. The final preparations for Sandur are expected to conclude by July 3, necessitated by the resignations of former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy, and Congress leader E Tukaram following their successful bids for parliamentary seats...////...
