Karnataka HC delays Yediyurappa's arrest in POCSO case

Bengaluru, June 28 (Reporter) The Karnataka High Court on Friday extended its interim order preventing the arrest of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in connection with a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Justice Krishna S Dixit delivered the decision, maintaining the earlier directive and permitting the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to respond to Yediyurappa's plea aimed at quashing the charges against him. The development follows closely on the heels of the CID filing a chargesheet naming Yediyurappa and three others as accused under sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code. The case originates from an accusation levelled by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, alleging that her daughter was sexually assaulted during a meeting at Yediyurappa's Bengaluru residence in February.
