Bengaluru, Dec 19 (Reporter) The Karnataka High Court on Thursday granted temporary relief to Bhavani Revanna, wife of senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former minister HD Revanna, by relaxing one of the conditions imposed while granting her anticipatory bail.
The court permitted her to visit the districts of Hassan and Mysuru for a period of 15 days.
Justice M Nagaprasanna issued the order while hearing a plea from Bhavani seeking relaxation of bail conditions imposed on her in connection with a kidnapping case. The case stems from allegations of sexual abuse involving her son, Prajwal Revanna, a suspended JDS leader.
In June this year, Bhavani was granted anticipatory bail by a different bench of the Karnataka High Court. However, the court had imposed stringent conditions, including a prohibition on her entering Hassan and Mysuru districts, where the alleged crime occurred.
The bail conditions required her to fully cooperate with the investigation. The order was later upheld by the Supreme Court, reinforcing the restrictions.
During the hearing today, Bhavani's counsel argued for a temporary relaxation of the restrictions to enable her to visit Hassan and Mysuru, citing personal reasons. After considering the submissions, Justice Nagaprasanna allowed her to visit the two districts for a limited period of 15 days, providing her with temporary relief.
The court clarified that her application seeking a complete exemption from the restrictions will be heard on January 9, 2025. Until then, the remaining bail conditions will continue to apply.
The case against Bhavani has drawn significant public and political attention due to its connection with her son, Prajwal, who is accused in a serious matter involving kidnapping and sexual abuse allegations. Prajwal, a prominent figure in the JDS, was suspended from the party in the wake of the allegations.
