Hubballi, April 23 (Reporter) Karnataka's Law Minister, H K Patil, has called on the Election Commission (EC) to register a suo moto case against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his alleged remarks at a recent election rally in Rajasthan.
Patil has urged the EC to disqualify Modi from participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the media here, Patil referred to Modi's speech at an election rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, where the Prime Minister stated that if the Congress were to come to power, it would redistribute hard-earned money, valuables, and wealth among "infiltrators" and "those who have more children".
Patil condemned the statements, describing them as divisive and violative of the electoral code of conduct. "The language used by Modi is very low, even below the standards expected of a Village Panchayat President," Patil remarked.
Demanding prompt action from the Election Commission, Patil emphasised the importance of the EC displaying impartiality and taking necessary actions against Modi. He warned that if the Election Commission fails to act within the next 24 hours, the Congress would seek legal remedies.
In addition to addressing the controversy surrounding Modi's remarks, Patil highlighted his party's election manifesto. He flayed the BJP for privatising various government projects, such as gas pipelines, national highways, airports, and warehousing corporations, accusing them of handing over "ornaments of Bharath Mata" to wealthy business houses.
Patil reassured that if Congress comes to power, they will refrain from privatising government assets...////...
