Bengaluru, Sep 23 (Reporter) Karnataka Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy has called for a national-level dialogue and Central government's intervention in the backdrop of demands from seers for greater autonomy for temples and minimal oversight by government officials, an official said on Monday.
"Not only in Karnataka, but throughout India, there are Muzrai temples," Reddy said.
"This has to be the responsibility of the Central government to take a decision, not of the State. The Central government should intervene; they have to take a decision regarding these issues," said Reddy, who heads the state government's Muzrai department which deals with religious and charitable endowments.
The seers' call for greater autonomy for temples comes in the wake of a fresh controversy surrounding the famed Tirupati laddu, where allegations have surfaced regarding the quality of the sacred offering.
