Belagavi, Dec 19 (Reporter) BJP MLC CT Ravi has been detained by Belagavi police on Thursday for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar. The incident occurred at the Suvarna Soudha premises shortly after the Karnataka Legislative Council was adjourned. The police filed an FIR under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (insulting a woman’s modesty) of the BNS. The complaint, lodged by Hebbalkar's supporters, accused Ravi of using offensive language that not only violated the dignity of the minister but also showed a lack of respect for women in public office. The altercation took place following a contentious debate in the Legislative Council over Union Minister Amit Shah’s controversial comments about Dr BR Ambedkar. The session had been adjourned due to protests over Shah's remarks. The incident has sparked widespread political outrage, particularly from Congress leaders. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met with Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti to demand swift action against Ravi.
