Gadag, April 12 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's tirade against the Congress government's alleged lack of development initiatives and financial mismanagement took a poignant turn as he highlighted the plight of women attempting to avail benefits under the Gruha Laxmi scheme. He claimed that the scheme's inefficiency had led to the wearing out of women's slippers as they repeatedly visited banks in hopes of accessing its benefits. "Ask any woman, how many of them got the benefits and how many haven't got them. Every month, women visit banks to avail benefits under the Gruha Laxmi scheme. Doing so, their slippers have worn out," Bommai said addressing an election rally, underscoring the frustration and hardships faced by women who are reliant on government welfare programs for support. It also suggests a systemic failure in the implementation and delivery of social welfare schemes, portraying a stark picture of the challenges faced by marginalised communities under the present dispensation. The former CM highlighted the dire state of the treasury and alleged that no funds have been utilised for development purposes. Moreover, Bommai brought to light the challenges faced by Gram Panchayats in carrying out basic infrastructure projects due to governmental constraints. He also drew attention to the severe impact of drought on farmers and accused the Congress government of failing to provide adequate relief measures. The senior BJP leader slammed the government's tendency to blame the central government for various issues instead of taking responsibility and emphasised the significance of the upcoming elections and suggested that the results will influence both state and national politics. Furthermore, the former CM mentioned the contrasting opinions within the ruling party regarding prime Ministerial Candidates, with Mamata Banerjee suggesting Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposing Rahul Gandhi.
