Chennai , Aug 18 (Reporter) Hailing former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Patriarch
as one of the most reverred leaders of the country and a titan of Indian politics, Defence
Minister Rajnath on Sunday evening Singh showered rich encomiums on him and said
he was an able administrator, an advocate for social justice and a cultural stalwart.
Speaking after releasing the Kalaignar (as Mr Karunanidhi was called) Centenary
Commemorative Rs 100 coin here at an event presided over by Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister M K Stalin, he recalled the contribution of the five time CM towards public
good.
He termed him as one of the most revered leaders of the country, a titan of Indian
politics, an able administrator, an advocate for social justice, and a cultural stalwart.
“While deeply rooted in Tamil identity, Mr Karunanidhi never allowed regionalism to
undermine the unity of the nation. He understood that the strength of Indian democracy
lies in its ability to accommodate diverse voices and identities", he added.
His insistence on state rights was a call for a more balanced and equitable distribution
of power within the Union. This commitment to federalism is a key aspect of Indianness,
Mr Rajnath Singh said, adding, India’s diversity is its strength, and the federal structure
