Kerala: EC did not act on CPI(M) complaints filed against Prime Minister i: Sitaram Yechury

Kozhikode, Apr 18 (Reporter) CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has said that the Election Commission (EC) did not act on the complaints filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making statements that allegedly violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the Lok Sabha election campaign meetings. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Yechury said the Prime Minister's speeches are aimed at sharpening communal polarisation and it is evident in the speeches. The CPI(M) had already filed a complaint with the EC in this regard, two days back. Yechury also criticised the Union Government's move to change the "Doordarshan logo" to saffron colour from Wednesday. He accused the BJP government of trying to change the colour of the Indian flag. He said the Maoist issue in Chhattisgarh Kanker district, is a political issue and their development problems should be solved politically. it shpuld not be considered as a law and order issue, he said adding Maoists should not be fought with guns in the country. Yechury said, "The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kerala will not affect the election results in Lok Sabha polls and added that the BJP-led NDA will not open an account in Kerala, where the main fight is going on between the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and CPI(M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF)." To a question about the cyber attack against K K Shailaja by the alleged UDF workers, Yechury condemned the cyber attack and said " The Cyber attacks against K K Shailaja, LDF candidate of Vadakara Parliamentary constituency is considered as a proof of her victory in the Lok Sabha polls. He appealed for unity in denouncing such malicious cyber tactics aimed to tarnish the image of the political leaders and such a trend is not acceptable in election campaigns. He also stressed the importance of upholding political ethics standards by all political workers. Meanwhile, Mattannur police registered a case against K M Milhaj of Naduvanna in Kozhikode district, for morphing Shailja's picture and forwarding it with obscene wording on Face book (in the name of K M Paloli), in the wake of the complaint of K K Shailaja...////...
