Kerala FM to present budget for 2024-25

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 5 (Reporter) Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal will present the third full budget for the financial year 2024-25 in Kerala of the second CPI(M)-led Pinarayi Vijayan Government at the State Legislative Assembly on Monday. This is the third full budget of the second CPI(M)-led government, which came to power for a second consecutive term by winning 99 seats out of the 140 Assembly seats in 2021, compared to 91 seats in the 2016 Assembly election, altering the four-decade-long electoral tradition in Kerala. The government is likely to take bold steps to mobilise additional resources without burdening the commoners in view of the current economic slowdown, the minister said. The budget will have proposals for increasing revenue as the state is facing a serious financial crisis due to various reasons, including alleged financial restrictions by the Centre.
