Kozhikode, June 12 (Reporter) Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Tourism, Suresh Gopi visited Thali temple and offered prayers along with a few BJP leaders on Wednesday following his arrival at Karipur Airport in Kerala for the first time after assuming office in New Delhi. Suresh Gopi, the first BJP MP from the state was accorded a grand welcome by the BJP workers at Karipur Airport on Tuesday night as he visited his home state after the swearing in ceremony on June 9. In the morning, Suresh Gopi visited the Thali temple at Kozhikode town, around 6.35 am along with BJP State General Secretary MT Ramesh, Yuva Morcha State President C R Praful Krishnan, District President V K Sajeevan and few others. Later, he visited the Maraji Bhavan (District office) of BJP at Kozhikode and interacted with the BJP leaders and workers assembled there. Talking to newspersons, Suresh Gopi said: "I have many contacts with temples and many individuals in all sections of people. They have supported me in my victory from Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency. The people choose me with the blessings of god," He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special interest in Kerala's developments. He spoke about first identifying the tourism centres, while considering the potential of its growth. Suresh Gopi left for Kannur in the afternoon to offer prayers at some temples there including Sri Thiruverkadu bhagavathi temple at Madayi near Pazhayangadi , Parassinikadavu Muthappan temple at Pappinisseri. He later visited the house of Sarada teacher, widow of former Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar at Kalliasseri. He also visited Kottiyoor Maha Shiva temple near Iritty and Rajarajeswara temple at Taliparamba. He was slated to visit the Maraji Smrithi Mandapam (memorial tomb) at Payyambalam to pay floral tributes to late State BJP leader K G Marar around 3 pm.
