Hyderabad/New Delhi, July 2 (Reporter) Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy has emphasized the critical role of the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, which is to hold the government accountable and be the voice of the people. He noted that this role has been exemplified by many stalwarts in the past, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani, and Sushma Swaraj, each of whom elevated the discourse in the Lok Sabha and provided a voice for the poor and downtrodden. In a statement on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy expressed disappointment over Rahul Gandhi's maiden speech as Leader of the Opposition. Instead of fulfilling his role responsibly, Reddy accused Gandhi of using the platform to propagate hate speech and spread fake news. He alleged that Gandhi's speech portrayed the entire Hindu community as violent and hate-filled, revealing his true colors. According to Reddy, Gandhi's hatred for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has morphed into hatred for the entire Hindu community and the nation, exposing an anti-Hindu agenda. Reddy further criticized the Congress Party and its alliance partners for repeatedly insulting Hindus, citing previous instances where members insulted Sanatana Dharma. He claimed that Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha was a direct attack on Hindus and a continuation of the Congress Party's historical attempts to single out the Hindu community, such as the proposed Communal Violence Bill before 2014. Additionally, Reddy accused Gandhi of spreading fake news and lies in his speech. He reminded Gandhi that the Lok Sabha is not an election campaign where fake news can be circulated unchecked, but a place where issues should be raised with facts and evidence.
