Hyderabad/New Delhi, Apr 16 (Reporter) Minister of Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of deep-rooted corruption and a blatant disregard for environmental norms.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Reddy highlighted the alleged misuse of the National Herald’s assets.
He stated that what was once a newspaper established by freedom fighters has now been reduced to a "sleazy real estate venture" under the control of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
He pointed to the diversion of Rs 90 crore of Congress funds to the National Herald, which were then transferred to a private company linked to the Gandhis for a mere Rs 50 lakh.
“This is not a new issue,” he said, referencing the 2012 case filed by Subramanian Swamy during the UPA government, which was upheld for investigation by both the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.
He called Congress’ ongoing nationwide protests a “shameful cover-up” and questioned their respect for the rule of law. "If the Congress believes in the judiciary, why the dharnas?" he asked, stating that the party's actions amount to nothing more than an attempt to protect its leadership from corruption charges.
Turning his attention to Telangana, Reddy condemned the state government’s controversial actions in Kancha Gachibowli, where he alleged trees were illegally felled under police protection during the night. “Such destruction, masked as development, has never been witnessed before,” he said, demanding accountability under the Volta Act.
He criticised the environmental impact of the move, claiming it endangers wildlife and depletes green cover in an already urbanised region.
He further accused both Congress and the previous BRS government of prioritising land sales over environmental responsibility, and urged citizens to see through what he called “shameful and destructive governance.”
Reddy reaffirmed the BJP’s support for the ongoing investigations by the Enforcement Directorate and called for the public to recognise and reject the Congress party’s repeated misconduct...////...
