Kolkata, July 4 (Reporter) ‘Metro ride Kolkata’ App has achieved the milestone of over 5 lakh downloads on smartphones by June-end, an official said on Thursday. Till June-end, more than 5.18 lakh Android users have downloaded the App as compared to 8200 iOS users, the official said. The App developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) enables commuters to recharge Smart Cards or book QR code-based tickets. The App was launched o­n March 5, 2022 o­n Android platform and o­n March 22, 2024 o­n iOS platform. Metro staff have also been helping passengers to download the App, said Metro Railway spokesman Kausik Mitra. Meanwhile, construction work of Purple Line beyond Majerhat station (south) has got a boost. The Purple Line of Kolkata Metro which stretches from Joka to Esplanade is now operational from Joka to Majerhat. To connect it with the Blue Line and Green Line, construction work of Mominpur (Excl.) to Esplanade stretch is going on under a work order issued to Larsen & Toubro last July, Mitra said...////...
