Bengaluru, May 17 (Reporter) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara announced on Friday that he has sought a report from an ADGP-rank officer in response to allegations of police negligence in the Anjali Ambigera murder case in Hubballi.
Anjali, a 20-year-old woman, was brutally stabbed to death at her residence by a jilted lover on Wednesday.
Addressing the charges, Parameshwara stated, "I will convene a review meeting to assess whether there were any lapses by the police officers. If these crimes are happening frequently, we need to identify and address the underlying factors."
The Home Minister confirmed that the accused, identified as 24-year-old Vishwa, has been arrested and assured stringent punishment.
"I am dispatching the ADGP to the area. He will compile a report on the recent series of crimes in Hubballi. If feasible, I will also visit Hubballi. The ADGP will investigate the causes of these incidents, identify the contributing factors, and provide a detailed report," he added.
Parameshwara also revealed that the police inspector involved in handling the case was immediately suspended for lapses. "There is no written complaint from Anjali Ambigera’s family regarding the threat from the jilted lover, to my knowledge. The police were orally informed about these threats," he explained.
The minister noted that the parents claimed they had notified the police about the threats. "This matter will also be investigated. If it is proven, further actions against the police officer will be taken," he stated.
The horrific incident unfolded at 5.30 am on Wednesday when Vishwa entered Anjali’s home in the Veerapura Oni area within the jurisdiction of the Bendigeri Police Station. He stabbed Anjali multiple times, dragged her around the house, and continued his brutal assault despite efforts by her grandmother and two sisters to stop him.
Vishwa, who had been blackmailing Anjali and pressuring her to accompany him to Mysuru without informing her parents, eventually fled the scene after killing her.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability regarding police response to threats and violence against women...////...
