Bengaluru, Sep 17 (Reporter) The Karnataka Congress has submitted a formal grievance against BJP MLA Basangouda R Patil Yatnal to Director General and Inspector General of Police Alok Mohan.
This complaint, tendered on Tuesday, concerns Yatnal’s disparaging remarks aimed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Congress affiliates have urgently demanded rigorous legal proceedings against Yatnal following his denouncement of Gandhi’s comments on caste made during his recent sojourn to the United States.
Yatnal questioned Gandhi’s knowledge of his own caste and pondered whether he was aware of whether he was born to Muslims or Christians. He further accused Rahul Gandhi of uttering anti-national sentiments during his American visit and criticised his support for a caste survey while allegedly being uncertain about his own caste.
In counter, Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra Yediyurappa has castigated Gandhi and the Congress party, describing their facade of ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’—a shop of love—as a charade. He asserted that the Congress party’s actions, including efforts to curtail press freedom and stifle inquiries into Hindu persecution in Bangladesh, lay bare their hypocrisy.
Vijayendra cautioned that should the Congress party ascend to power, they might reintroduce authoritarian measures akin to those of the Emergency era. He further accused the Congress of shielding wrongdoers, citing instances such as the Nagamangala case and the Rameshwaram cafe bomb blast as indicative of their duplicitous nature...////...
