Bengaluru, Dec 17 (Reporter) The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted interim stay on the investigation against Republic TV Chief Editor Arnab Goswami, who was accused of spreading fake news about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The case was filed after a report aired on R Kannada channel on March 27, claiming that traffic on MG Road in Bengaluru was stopped to let the Chief Minister pass, causing an ambulance to be stuck. However, it was later revealed that Siddaramaiah was in Mysuru at the time, not Bengaluru. Justice M Nagaprasanna called the registration of the case "reckless," stating, "It is understandable as to how the section is applicable to its remotest sense in the case at hand. Therefore it is a reckless registration of crime by respondent no 2. If such crime are permitted to continue it will amount to abuse of process of law. There shall be an interim order of stay of all further investigation till next date of hearing, January 16, 2025." The video in question was deleted within 24 hours, according to Goswami's lawyer, Arun Shyam. The court has also issued a notice to the other parties involved in the case...////...
