Bhadradri Kothagudem (Telangana), May 20 (Reporter) BRS Working President and former minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) criticised the Congress party, accusing it of deceiving the public with numerous false promises.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting in Kothagudem on Monday, part of the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduate MLC by-election campaign set for May 27, KTR stated, "We asked people during the assembly election not to trust the Congress party, but they were given a chance. Now, everyone should reflect on what has transpired in the past six months under this Congress government."
KTR highlighted the many assurances made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during the election. "How many guarantees has this government given to farmers? How many have been implemented?" he questioned.
He referenced Revanth Reddy’s promise on December 9 to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakhs, pointing out that despite this, there has been no substantial relief provided to farmers.
KTR contrasted this with the previous administration's Rythu Bandhu scheme, which provided financial assistance to farmers during planting seasons. "Revanth Reddy only remembers Rythu Bandhu on the day of voting," he remarked. He criticized the current government’s claim of implementing five out of six guarantees, questioning their truthfulness.
He urged the electorate to support party candidate Rakesh Reddy in the upcoming election to hold the government accountable for its promises. "Rakesh Reddy must win if these lies are to be questioned," he asserted.
KTR also criticized the Congress’s claims of financial support for women and families. "Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are lying about giving money to women. Has any woman received Rs 2500? Has any family received Rs 4000?" he asked.
He praised KCR's administration for its achievements, including establishing 33 medical colleges in ten years and creating Kothagudem district. KTR emphasized that despite these accomplishments, the present government’s false promises misled the people.
"Revanth Reddy is changing the dates on loan waivers like a chameleon changes colours," KTR said, calling for a strong opposition in the Legislative Council to challenge the government. He highlighted Rakesh Reddy’s credentials, including his education at BITS Pilani and his decision to return from the USA for public service.
KTR warned of the potential privatization of Singareni under Congress and BJP, asserting that Rakesh Reddy can prevent such actions. He defended the BRS's record of filling 2 lakh jobs in 10 years and challenged the Congress to show any state with a better record.
"Did you get a single notification when Revanth Reddy came? How is he claiming to have given 30,000 jobs?" KTR asked, urging the electorate to support leaders who will demand accountability.
He stressed the need for a strong opposition to ensure a robust democracy and called for support for candidates like Rakesh Reddy who will advocate for the people's issues in the legislative council...////...
