Patna, July 19 (Reporter) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday reviewed the law and order situation in the state and directed civil and police administration to ensure the protection of life and property at any cost.
Kumar held high-level review meeting with senior officials in the wake of the recent increase in crimes in the state, particularly the murder of father of VIP presidents Mukesh Sahni at his residence in Darbhanga.
In the meeting, Nitish issued a series of instructions to the authorities concerned to maintain law and order in the state.
" Police patrolling should be increased and investigation of the case should also be completed to ensure punishment of criminals", the Chief Minister said adding that land disputes should be settled to avoid crimes related to it. Police administration would be provided all resources to check crimes and any sort of dereliction of duty would not be tolerated at all, he warned.
Kumar said the state government had sanctioned 2,29,139 posts to increase number of policemen in Bihar. He directed expediting the process of recruitment of policemen against additional vacant posts.
Since 2013, 35 percent of posts in Bihar police have been reserved for women and the number of women police personnel has increased to 30,000 in the state since then, he added.
The Chief Minister said illegal mining should be stopped and those indulging in such activities should be dealt with iron hand. Illegal mining was a major factor for the increase in crimes, he pointed out...////...
