Lightning claims five lives in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 26 (Reporter) At least five people, including a woman and her son, were killed when lightning struck them at two different places in Odisha on Wednesday. Reports reaching here said three people were killed and two others injured when lightning struck them while they were taking shelter under a banyan tree during heavy rains at Duandihi village under Bheden block in Bargarh district. In another incident, a woman and her son were killed in the Khaprakhol area of Bolangir district when lightning struck them. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his deep grief over the deaths of five people in lightning and announced an ex gratia of Rs. 4 lakh to the next kin of the deceased.
