Mumbai, Jul 15 (Reporter) All India Mahila Congress president, Alka Lamba, on Monday thanked people of Maharashtra for having stopped the ruling BJP from achieving its set goal of winning more than 400 seats in parliamentary election and said that the Lok Sabha poll results is a warning to the triple-engine Mahayuti government in the state.
Speaking at the extended executive meeting of Mahila Pradesh Congress held at party headquarter here, she said that only a strong organisation can fight and win election in a big state like Maharashtra and for that organisation should be strong, she stressed.
She further said that to strengthen the organisation, party activists should work actively, give time to the party, devote yourself to the work of propaganda and propagation.
There are 70 crore women in the country, who make up 50 per cent of the population, which is equally important in elections, the women's wing chief emphasised.
She asked women activists to be their voice, with use of social media, as through this medium their voice would reach in every corner of the world in a minute.
"There are only a few days left for the assembly elections. At least one woman chairperson should be appointed per booth," she asserted.
She urged Mahila Congress to work hard and bring the Congress to power in three upcoming assembly elections in the country.
Commenting on domestic violence, torture and injustice against women, Ms Lamba expressed anger that a woman was gangraped and murdered in Kalyan town of Thane district and said that incidents of atrocities against women are increasing and as an office-bearer of Mahila Congress, become the voice of women.
On this occasion, Sandhya Savvalakhe, state president of Mahila Congress, said, "If we work more vigorously and proactively like in the Lok Sabha election, no one will be able to stop the Congress party from coming to power in the assembly elections as well...////...
