LS polls: Mysuru scion Yaduveer, others file nominations in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Apr 3 (Reporter) On Wednesday, several candidates, among them Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and V Somanna, filed their nominations for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 26 in Karnataka. They were accompanied by Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy in Mysuru. Union Minister and BJP candidate Shobha Karandlaje, who serves as the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, filed her nomination papers as the BJP candidate from Bangalore North. She conducted a roadshow in the company of former ministers Byrathi Basavaraj and Gopalaiah. Son of Karnataka Minister HC Mahadevappa also filed his nomination as the Congress nominee from Chamarajanagar, before holding a roadshow with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, and other prominent members of the party. S Balaraj and Kota Srinivas Poojari filed their nominations as BJP candidates from Chamarajanagar and Udupi-Chikmagalur respectively. Poojari is the Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Council. Former Chairman of Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes, K Jayaprakash Hegde, filed his nomination as the Congress candidate in Udupi-Chikmagalur. R Padmaraj filed his nomination as the Congress candidate from Dakshina Kannada, while BJP candidates Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and V Somanna, filed their nominations again, accompanied by Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy in Mysuru. M Lakshman filed his nomination against Wadiyar, accompanied by Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Prathap Simha, sitting BJP MP from Mysuru, was present during the nomination filing of Wadiyar. Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and former DyCM R Ashoka accompanied Somanna during his nomination filing in Tumkuru. While April 4 is the last day for filing nominations, scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 5, and April 8 is the last day for withdrawal of candidature.
