Bengaluru, Apr 1 (Reporter) The process of filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka on April 26 has gained momentum.
Various candidates, including prominent ones such as BJP MP PC Mohan from Bengaluru Central and Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy from Bengaluru South, have submitted their papers.
Additionally, former Karnataka Ministers V Somanna and Dr K Sudhakar, who served in the previous BJP government, have filed nominations from Tumkuru and Chikkaballapur segments, respectively.
Raksha Ramaiah, the Congress candidate opposing Sudhakar, also submitted his papers, along with party colleagues Venkataramane Gowda ('Star' Chandru) and Shreyas M Patel from Mandya and Hassan, respectively.
Before filing their nominations, many candidates visited temples and held road shows alongside party leaders and supporters. For instance, Mohan was accompanied by BJP veteran and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, as well as Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, R Ashoka, during his nomination filing.
Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President DK Shivakumar joined Sowmya Reddy's roadshow before she filed her papers.
In total, polling for 14 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will be held in the first phase, with April 4 being the last day for filing nominations. The scrutiny of nominations will be taken up on April 5, and candidates have until April 8 to withdraw their candidature...////...
