Buldhana, Aug 13 (Reporter) AICC general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra, Ramesh Chennithala, on Tuesday slammed the BJP-led Mahayuti government in the state, accusing it of not paying attention to farmers' issues resulting in the highest number of farmers' suicides in the country. Speaking at a review meeting here along with senior state leaders in preparations for the assembly election for the districts of Buldhana, Akola and Washim, he claimed that the corrupt grand alliance government has not given minimum support price (MSP) for agri crops as yet, adding to their difficulties. He alleged that the BJP government at the Centre and in the state is not giving loan waiver to the farmers, on the contrary, Dr Manmohan Singh-led UPA government had waived off loans of farmers worth Rs 72,000 crore, he reminded. This (BJP) government does not have a programme to tackle problems of inflation and unemployment, he claimed. Chennithala expressed that just as the people of Maharashtra have taught a lesson to the BJP-led alliance in the Lok Sabha election, the same way they will do it in upcoming assembly election and help the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) win with two-thirds majority. Speaking on the occasion, Legislature Party Leader Balasaheb Thorat said that the response to MVA in the Lok Sabha election was remarkable. From this, it is clear that there is a lot of anger among people against the central and the state governments, he noted. He said that people who were facing inquiry are now in the government and alleged that the government is being run in a corrupt way. Thorat expressed serious concern about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and widespread drug abuse among the youth. The grand alliance government is not working for people but for power, he added. Meanwhile, interacting with media after the meeting, Chennithala said that the central government brought the Waqf Amendment Bill, but it is not for benefit of the minority community. As the bill faced opposition in the Lok Sabha, it had to be sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee, he said.
