Maha: BJP chief condemns Karnataka govt's decision on Savarkar statue

Mumbai, Dec 9 (Reporter) Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule on Monday condemned the Congress-led Karnataka government's decision to remove the statue of Swatantra Veer Savarkar from the state assembly hall. Taking to social media X (formerly Twitter), he said this decision is highly reprehensible and insulting to the Indian freedom movement. "This is a ploy of Congress to ignore the sufferings, sacrifices and thoughts of freedom hero Savarkar for the freedom of Mother India," he alleged. "Will Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, who abandoned his Hindutva stance in desperation for power, protest against this or will he swallow and remain silent as usual," Bawankule wondered.
