Mumbai, Dec 13 (Reporter) Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule on Friday targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance on Hindutva in light of alleged atrocities being committed on Hindus in neighbouring Bangladesh.
Taking to social media X (formerly Twitter), he alleged that Thackeray who left Hinduism for power and joined hands with the Congress party, is today talking about protection of Hindus in Bangladesh.
He said that during his two-and-a-half years in power, Maharashtra saw the massacre of two sadhus in Palghar and his (Thackeray's) anti-Hindu stance.
He affirmed that BJP stands with Hindus in Bangladesh and for the same, the central government approved the Citizenship Amendment Bill, he pointed.
"At that time, being afraid of the Congress, you took a conservative position in the Rajya Sabha," retorted BJP chief.
He stressed that "for BJP, Hinduism is not a matter of politics but it is our faith, life and breath."
He also took a swipe at Sena (UBT) chief for keeping mum over Priyank Kharge's criticism of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar and removal of Savarkar's portrait from the Karnataka Assembly.
"This is where your so-called loyalty to Hinduism is understood," Bawankule said in a taunt to Thackeray.
"You have no right to talk about Vishwaguru PM Modi but you also don't deserve it," he added...////...
