Maha Cabinet congratulates PM Modi for granting 'classical language' status to Marathi

Mumbai, Oct 4 (Reporter) The Maharashtra Cabinet on Friday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for granting classical language status to Marathi. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other ministers attended the meeting. The state cabinet also decided to celebrate October 3 as 'Marathi Abhijat Bhasha Gaurav Din' henceforth. State Minister of Marathi Language Deepak Kesarkar read out the cabinet resolution in this regard. It said that the State Cabinet expresses its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for this historic decision, and congratulates the Union Cabinet on behalf of the State Cabinet. The content of this proposal was that the Marathi language was originally classical. Maharashtra tried through chartered means to get the classical langauge status. Efforts were being made at many levels for the last decade. For this, classical Marathi Language Committee under the chairmanship of Prof Ranganath Pathare did great work. The Department of Marathi Language has continued the continuous work of Marathi through Language Directorate, Marathi Encyclopaedia Creation Board, Sahitya Sanskriti Corporation and State Marathi Development Institute. The Marathi Sahitya Parishad and the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan have become a festival for Marathi speakers and lovers of Marathi. In the background of all this, all the Marathi speakers are happy with the central government's decision to give the classical status to the Marathi language. This decision is historic for Marathi people. Many great writers, researchers and scholars have tried to get the Marathi language classic status. Their hard work has been rewarded with this decision. Marathi language has received more energy and motivation for the its development . It has been decided to establish a university of Marathi language. The headquarters of this university will be at Riddhapur. Studies and research in Marathi language can be promoted. It is a matter of pride and honour for Marathi lovers all over the world to get the status of Marathi language. With Marathi getting classical language status, study of Marathi dialects, research, collection of literature, facilitating teaching of Marathi in all universities of India in view of language conservation...////...
