Maha: Campaigning for 4th phase to end Sat evening

Mumbai, May 11 (Reporter) Campaigning for Lok Sabha elections to 11 constituencies of Western and North Maharastra, and the Marathawada region will end Saturday 6 pm. These constituencies are Pune, Shirur, Maval, Ahmednagar, Shiridi, Nandurbar, Jalagaon, River, Beed, Aurangabad, and Jalna. A total of 298 candidates are in fray and over 2.28 crore voters will decide their fate at 23,284 polling stations on May 13 in the fourth phase of the election. Elections in 24 constituencies of the state were already held in three phases on April 19, April 26, and May 7. Prominent faces in the fourth phase will be Pankaja Munde (BJP-Beed), Raosaheb Danve (BJP-Jalna), Imitaz Jaleel (AIMIM-Aurangabad), Sandipan Bhumre (Shinde Sena-Aurangabad). Besides Raksha Khadse (BJP-Raver), Dr. Amol Kolhe (NCP-SP-Shirur), Adalrao Patil (NCP-Shirur), Srirang Barne (Shinde Sena-Maval), Sujay Vikhe-Patil (BJP-Ahmednagar). Also Nilesh Lanke (NCP-SP-Ahmednagar), Heena Gavit (BJP-Nandurbar), Ravindra Dangekar (Congress-Pune), and Murlidhar Mahol (BJP-Pune). Main contest will be seen between the NDA-led Mahayuti and the INDIA bloc-led Maha Vikas Agadhi. Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi candidates also pose challenges in this election. Parties have carried out extensive canvassing with prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Amit Shah, NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar among many others. On Saturday, prominent leaders, including Rajsthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Navnit Rana Kaur, Priyanka Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Nitin Gadkari, Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, among others, are addressing election rallies and roadshows till 6 pm to woo voters in support of their respective party candidates. The elections in five Lok Sabha constituencies that fall under western Maharashtra regions appear to be tough fights. In Pune, the BJP fielded former mayor Murlidhar Mohol for the seat, while Congress fielded Ravindra Dhangekar from the constituency. In Shirur constituency, sitting MP Amol Kolhe of the NCP (SP) is facing former MP Shivajirao Adhalrao-Patil of the NCP-AP. The Maval Lok Sabha Constituency contest is between the two Shiv Senas. Sitting MP Shrirange Barne of Shiv Sena is facing Sanjog Waghere of Shiv Sena (UBT). In Ahmednagar, there was a direct fight between sitting MP Dr. Sujay Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil of the BJP and Nilesh Lanke of the NCP-SP. There is a triangular fight in the Shirdi reserved Lok Sabha constituency where the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena nominated sitting MP Sadashiv Lokhande against the former MP and Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Bhausaheb Wakchaure and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) nominee and former Congress leader Utkarsha Rupawate. In Jalgaon Loksabha constituency, BJP candidate Smitha Wagh contested the election against Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) candidate Karan Pawar. In Raver constituency, sitting BJP MP Raksha Khadse pitted against NCP-SP candidate Sriram Patil. In Nandurbar, Heena Gavit is sitting MP again, contesting the election against Congress Adv Gowaal Kagada Padavi. In Aurangabad Lok constituency, AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel pitted against UBT's candidate Chandrakant Khaire and Shinde Sena candidate Sandipan Bhumre. In Beed Pankaja Munde, the BJP has locked horns against the NCP-SP's candidate, Bajrang Sonawane. While in Jalna constituency, sitting BJP MP and union minister of state for railways Raosaheb Danve is contesting the election sixth time in a row against Congress nominee Dr Kalyan Kale. Danve was elected in a row in all the previous Lok Sabha elections from 1999 onwards in this constituency.
