Maha: CEC to declare dates of Assembly election considering upcoming festival season

Mumbai, Sep 28 (Reporter) Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Saturday that taking into consideration the upcoming festival season, dates of the Maharashtra Assembly election will be declared accordingly. He made this announcement after a meeting with all political parties including national and regional on the Assembly election in Maharashtra. Among them were the representatives of BSP, AAP, Congress, MNS, Shiv Sena, NCP (AP), NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and BJP. He said that he also met director general of police, commissioner and others and gave them instructions about preparations. Considering the upcoming festivals like Navratri and Diwali, the party heads requested CEC to announce the dates of election (Maharashtra Election 2024) keeping in mind these festivals. They also requested to fix the date of elections keeping in mind the holidays. All party heads also requested him to stop propagation and spread of fake news, to stop misuse of money and muscle power. Since the term of the Maharashtra Assembly is coming to an end on November 26, election will have to be held before that, he further said. In Maharashtra, there are total 288 assembly constituencies with total 9.59 crore electorates, he informed. Among them, 19.48 lakh are new voters in Maharashtra, who will take democracy forward, Kumar added.
