Maha: CM directs officials to prepare plan for rehabilitation of flood affected residents of Pune

Mumbai, Aug 3 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday directed the district collector, Pune Municipal Corporation, Water Resources department to prepare a plan in coordination with experts for the permanent rehabilitation of citizens affected by floods. He also ordered to start construction of a strong flood-protection wall at Khadakwasla, Ekta Nagar, Sinhagad as a temporary measure to avoid recurrence of recent flood situation in Pune. He gave these instructions after a delegation, led by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray, met the Chief Minister at the latter's official Varsha bungalow in south Mumbai. When PMC commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosle informed that there are about three lakh houses under the blue flood line especially in Ekta Nagar, Sinhagad and developers are not coming forward for redevelopment as FSI (floor-space index) is not available here, the Chief Minister directed that redevelopment work should be done by giving a special status to this place and a plan should be prepared. When it was brought to attention of the Chief Minister that the vehicles in Pune were heavily damaged in the flood situation, but no compensation is being paid, he instructed the Pune civic commissioner and the district collector to find a way out of this by talking to insurance companies and to get compensation to the vehicle owners immediately.
