Nagpur, Feb 7 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday inaugurated an exhibition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj era weapons at the Central Museum here. Speaking at the main event held at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat auditorium after inaugurating an exhibition of Shivaji-era weapons at the museum, he cited an example of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's governance through water management, environment protection, law & order, protection of women, respect of all castes and religions. He recalled that at a time when it was doubtful whether Maharashtra's customs, culture, language and religion would survive or not due to onslaught of invasions, Shivaji Maharaj kept this freedom intact. "The foundation of the freedom we are enjoying today was laid by Chhatrapati Shivarai," he noted. "We have brought back the tiger claws (Wagh nakhe) which Chhatrapati Shivaraya used to protect Swarajya to make people of Maharashtra proud of this legacy. They were initially kept in the museum of Satara for citizens of western Maharashtra," Fadnavis said and asserted that the state government is committed to preserve this rich heritage and pass it on to the new generation.
