Mumbai, June 27 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday ordered strict action against a rampant narcotics business in parts of cities. Even bulldozers will be employed to take down illegal pubs and bars in the city to make it drug-free, he said. Shinde gave clear instructions to the municipal commissioners and police commissioners of Thane and Mira-Bhainder to use bulldozers if necessary to destroy such illegal constructions related to contraband substance markets like drug-use. It was recently noticed that some youths were consuming drugs in Pune, he said. Taking a serious note, Shinde has ordered the Pune Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner to use bulldozers to destroy the unauthorised constructions related to drugs business. Following those orders extensive activities were carried out in Pune city. Now, in the same way, illegal constructions related to drugs in Thane city and Mira-Bhyander city should be destroyed by using bulldozers, suggested Shinde. "Drug abuse is causing a great loss to the youth. It is important to stop this scourge immediately. Strict measures should be taken for this. Strict action should be initiated against drug dealers," he said.
