Kolhapur, Apr 15 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was successful in convincing independent MLA Prakash Awade, who had decided to contest Lok Sabha elections from Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituency against official candidate of Mahayuti, after about half an hour meeting on Monday at latter's residence.
Shinde, who arrived here specially for filing nomination paper of sitting MP Dhairyashil Mane from Hatkanangale seat, directly left for Awade's residence from airport and held talks with him for about half an hour.
In this meeting, he succeeded in persuading Awade, who had decided to contest as an independent candidate from Hatkanangale, not to contest against Mane in order to make Modi prime minister for third time.
Finally, Awade relented and decided to support official Mahayuti candidate from Hatkanangale constituency.
Incidentally, this was second meeting of Shinde with Awade in two days. Earlier on Saturday night, Shinde had met Awade and requested him not to contest against their official candidate Mane from Hatkanangale but his efforts were in vain.
Following today's meeting, Awade participated in a procession along with Shinde, which was taken out by Mahayuti allies to show strength before filing of nomination paper by Mane at the district collector's office here...////...
