Maha: CM takes measures for safe return of stranded students in Bangladesh

Mumbai, Aug 6 (Reporter) In the wake of civil unrest in Bangladesh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday contacted the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) requesting them to take immediate steps for the safety of the students from the state stuck there and their safe return to their homeland. Since the unrest in Bangladesh has raised questions about the safety of foreign nationals, especially students stranded in troubled areas, the Chief Minister gave priority to the safety of Maharashtra students studying there. In his interaction with the MEA officials, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for immediate action in view of the seriousness of the situation in Bangladesh and requested to provide all possible assistance to affected students. In order to speed up the process of their safe return to India, a compiled list of students from the state currently stranded in Bangladesh was made available to the MEA. Additionally, a team has also been set up by the state government to monitor the situation there and be in touch with the central authorities and the affected families. The MEA is coordinating with the Indian Embassy in Bangladesh so that measures can be taken for the safety of the students.
