Kolhapur, May 23 (Reporter) Congress MLA in Maharashtra Pandurang Nivruti, alias P N Patil, died on Thursday morning following complications from a severe head injury sustained recently. family sources said.
Patel, 71, is survived by two sons and a daughter.
The legislator from Karveer constituency had a fall at his residence here last Sunday and breathed his last at 6 am today despite undergoing surgery and receiving intensive care, including modern life support.
A devoted leader of the Congress and staunch loyalist of the Gandhi family, Patil was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the old Sangrul constituency in 2004 and from the Karveer constituency in 2019.
He served as the Kolhapur district Congress president for an impressive 20 years, beginning in 1999. He was also the state Congress vice president.
President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Nana Patole condoled Patil's death.
In his condolence message, Patole expressed is grief and shock at Patil's d death and called him a loyal and conscientious public servant.
