Pune, Nov 14 (Reporter) Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not talking about pressing issues concerning the people of the state in campaign meetings for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Talking to reporters here after addressing public meetings in Trimbakeshwar of Nashik district and Pune for Congress-Maha Vikas Aghadi candidates, he said that they about how Article 370 cannot be re-implemented in Jammu and Kashmir even if former prime minister late Indira Gandhi is reincarnated and sought to know relevance of linking Article 370 with assembly elections in Maharashtra.
While attacking the BJP and the Modi government, he pointed that inflation, unemployment have increased sharply, farmers in the state are in trouble, but Modi-Shah are not talking about the prices of soybean, onion, milk and cotton.
The Congress president further said that the previous Congress governments, led by prime ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, brought development to the country and also set up IIMs, IITs, big factories, dams, medical, engineering colleges, hospitals, various other institutions.
This development work has been done over last 60 years, he pointed.
Furthermore, Pandit Nehru and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar gave the right to vote to everyone including women, while Rajiv Gandhi lowered the age of voting from 21 to 18 years, he said and informed that Manmohan Singh's government introduced MNREGA, Food Security Act for the poor.
