Mumbai, May 21 (Reporter) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson, Atul Londhe, on Tuesday cast aspersions on the role of police in Pune car accident case, saying it be considered suspicious and demanded that strict action should be taken against the police officers who allegedly tried to suppress it.
Notably, a builder's son drove his car rashly and mowed down two people in Kalyaninagar area of Pune city.
Speaking in this regard, Londhe alleged that the Pune Police has negligently handled the case of Vedant Agarwal, son of construction businessman Vishal Agarwal, who drove his car rashly under influence of alcohol and mowed down two people in Kalyaninagar of Pune.
The boy was detained at the police station and minor charges were imposed on him, so he was able to secure bail immediately, he claimed.
Vedant was not only driving under influence of alcohol but also his luxury car had no number plate, he further claimed and alleged that police tried to cover up the case and save Vedant Agarwal.
It is also reported that pizza and burgers were ordered for him at the police station, the Congress leader claimed.
Despite being a serious case, police invoked minor charges and presented Vedant before the court, he alleged.
"Why did police show such readiness to save Vedant? Was there any political pressure on police?" he said while seeking answers to these questions.
All the police officials who handled this case should be suspended and strict action should be taken against them, he demanded.
Londhe accused the Mahayuti (grand alliance) government of tarnishing image of Pune city, which has
