Maha: EVM Govt working to murder democratic system, claims Congress chief

Nagpur, Dec 17 (Reporter) The BJP alliance government, which came to power through EVMs, is working to murder the democratic system in the state, alleged MPCC president Nana Patole on Tuesday. Talking to media here in the state assembly premises, he claimed that the EVMs (electronic voting machines) used in the recent Assembly election were not the same as those used during the Lok Sabha election. The EVMs for the Assembly election were brought from Gujarat instead, he further claimed. Alleging the misuse of EVMs, the state Congress president also claimed that the BJP members are on the board of directors of the company that manufactures EVMs. He accused the Election Commission of failing to exercise its constitutional powers, claiming that all operations were being conducted at the BJP's behest, revealing their mindset. On ONOE bill, he alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)'s intention to destroy the democratic system in the country is evident through the 'One Nation, One Election' bill brought by the BJP government at the Centre. Talking about Parbhani and Beed incidents, Patole said that in Parbhani, it has been revealed that Somnath Suryawanshi, a Dalit youth, died due to alleged police assault while in Beed, Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh was brutally murdered, he added.
