Mumbai, Jul 24 (Reporter) In a major blow to BJP in East Vidarbha ahead of upcoming election to Maharashtra Assembly, its former MP Shishupal Patle has resigned from the party, alleging that BJP did not pay attention to the problems of farmers and unemployed youth, which is real reason for a miserable situation of the state.
Patle, who was working in BJP for past several years, has sent his resignation letter on Wednesday to the state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, which is considered as a major blow to the party.
In the resignation letter, he lamented that the BJP era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani is over.
He said that he was following burning issues of farmers, farm labourers and unemployed, but the state
government and the party leadership involved in alleged power games did not take any notice of his issues, forcing him to resign from the primary membership of BJP.
Patle was the president of Bhandara Zilla Parishad. He had defeated NCP's Praful Patel in 2004 Lok Sabha election.
He became an MP at a very young age and is considered a big face of the Powar community in the politics of Bhandara-Gondia district.
